What’s New in the WRC 2027 Calendar?

Rally US brings the championship back to America

Scheduled for 26–29 August, Rally US marks the WRC’s first visit to the United States since 1988. Its inclusion restores an American round to the championship and expands the calendar’s international reach.

Rally Scotland restores the UK round

The United Kingdom returns for the first time since 2019. Rally Scotland takes place on 30 September–3 October, with an Aberdeen-based event bringing Scotland’s forest roads to the world championship.

Rally d’Italia moves to Rome and asphalt

Italy’s WRC round changes both location and surface. Running on 8–11 July, Rally d’Italia takes the championship to Rome and the asphalt stages of Lazio, building on the event’s European Rally Championship heritage.

Portugal is absent from the schedule

Rally de Portugal does not feature on the WRC 2027 Calendar. Another notable change is the consecutive scheduling of Estonia and Finland, followed by a gravel-only run through to the Saudi Arabian finale.

What the 2027 WRC Schedule Means for Drivers

From a coaching perspective, a calendar is more than a list of events. It helps crews identify the skills they need to develop and decide when to work on them.

On gravel, effective preparation means understanding braking, weight transfer, traction and how the car responds as grip changes. Reliable pace notes must support those decisions, allowing the driver to commit with confidence while maintaining a margin for changing conditions.

Asphalt requires equally precise preparation. Road interpretation, braking references and accurate lines become essential when small errors can compromise an entire sequence of corners.

A structured training programme gives crews time to practise, review onboard footage and telemetry, and turn feedback into repeatable improvements before competition begins.
