One final stage. A world title on the line. And, at the end of it, Elfyn Evans finally reaching the summit of rallying.
Evans and Scott Martin have claimed their first FIA World Rally Championship titles following a tense finale at Rally Italia Sardegna on 4 October 2026. For everyone at Vittorio Caneva Rally School, seeing one of our former students become World Rally Champion is a moment of immense pride.
We have followed Elfyn’s progress with a special interest. Today, we celebrate a driver whose determination has carried him to the biggest achievement of his career, alongside the co-driver and team who helped make it possible.
The final day in Sardinia tested Evans to the limit. A puncture on SS16 forced him to stop and change a wheel, leaving his championship hopes hanging on the concluding Power Stage and a direct contest with Toyota Gazoo Racing teammate Oliver Solberg.
After five championship runner-up finishes, Evans delivered when the stakes were highest. He becomes the first British WRC drivers’ champion since Richard Burns in 2001, while Martin secures his first co-drivers’ crown.
It was an ending worthy of the championship: uncertainty, pressure and everything still to play for until the final stage.
Elfyn is part of the community of drivers who have chosen Vittorio Caneva Rally School to develop their driving. Being part of that journey is something we value deeply.
A world title belongs to the people who earn it. This is Elfyn’s achievement, shared with Scott Martin and Toyota Gazoo Racing. Our pride comes from having contributed to his development along the way and watching him turn his ambition into success at the highest level.
For the drivers training with us today, his achievement offers a powerful source of inspiration. There is always another detail to understand, another technique to refine, another step to take.
Since 1989, our school has focused on helping drivers build and refine their skills through structured training. From racing lines and braking on tarmac to car control and traction management in our 2WD and 4WD PRO Gravel Rally Courses, the aim is to make progress concrete. Our STAGE courses and telemetry analysis help drivers examine their technique and understand where they can improve.
That is why moments like this matter so much to our instructors and students. They connect the daily work of driver development with the ambitions that bring people into rallying in the first place.
Today, the celebration belongs to Elfyn and Scott.
Congratulations, World Champions. Elfyn, we are proud to have been part of your journey.
Championship titles remain subject to FIA confirmation of the results.
