Telemetry

A new way to teach driving racing:
the behavior of the pilots looked at the computer

Telemetrie allows one to grafically analyze all movements done by the driver in the section of road used for testing.
The degrees of steering gives the trajectory covered; the lateral co-efficient of acceleration (y) allows one to verify how the driver applies the adherance of the vehicle; the coefficient of understeering (Kus) reveals the driving limits; braking is measure by it’s intensity ; and the speed, the rev’s of the motor, and the opening of the butterfly valve allow one to analyze, to the 1/100th of a second, if the manouvre was correct or not.

All this data is then compared to traces already acquired and done in precedence by affirmed pilots who have obtained the best trajectories possible.
In the last few months of 2001 three of the best Italian pilots underwent a day of testing in the schools SEAT Cordoba’s.

RENATO TRAVAGLIA
"Telemetrie doesn't let you cheat. I wanted to see my defects and the differences between me and the others. I’m happy that Vittorio appreciated my trajectories and even more so for having discovered that I need to improve my starts and to have realized that I can cut a little here and there."
PIERO LIATTI
"It was an interesting trial, and it hit me how similar our driving techniques are. Even one single perfect kilometer, in a rally, no-one will ever drive, but in the end the differences between us are infinitesimal."
ANDREA DALLAVILLA
"I was curious to discover the new world of telemetrie and it was a really good experience! I hope to be able to reduce my errors and to already put into use what I learned in the next race."
